Design needs to be coordinated in form and function. I find that most people want to love every little detail individually. Tarnator, if you keep browsing houzz bathroom images and save images to your ideabook, you will notice a common style being repeated in your interest. It's great that the thought goes into the design for the future concerns. Actually, I would have loved that bench at the entrance to the shower for her, and had a handheld shower head. I still remember her giggling in the shower with her 30 year old adorable male aide. I understand what you are saying about senior concerns, I'm an old broad myself, and I took care of my mom until she was 90. ^ ^ ^ Weathered reclaimed sliding doors for cabinet storage with adjustable shelves behind ^ ^ ^ Shower with honed travertine and stacked stone exterior shower wall with rain shower head Again, continue any wall finish on that wall only ^ ^ ^ Note the transparent whited washed wall panels and floating vanity cabinet with natural wood top ^ ^ ^ Note pebble stacked wall to continue to window at shower. The first thing is to determine a layout you like. You definitely can't see the shower and no glass to constantly clean.ĭon't forget the finishes can be anything, which changes the look dramatically. With the concrete shower enclosure, one stone wall behind the vanity on the right when entering, wood storage cabinet doors and simple vanity countertops, it will have a rustic modern design concept without being cowgirl. How divine! When entering the shower, you will see the window and imagine a floating bench intersecting the window. The option is a wood ceiling or a combination of wood and a skylight. Imagine that the outside curve is the concrete wall and shower interior is all is open. I know the plan looks like a fire pit drawn in, but I use a very simple quick design program and it won't curve walls. Keeping the shower in that position, round or square, with the window at the entrance to the shower, will allow you to create this in your bathroom. Go for what will make you happy and enjoy your environment. Even though it is design specific, at a certain point you can't do everything for resale. ^ ^ ^ Concrete walls, wood ceiling, body sprays give it simple rustic charm. The one drawn in the plan is much larger and the entrance to the shower is straight, not curved. Note the shower black and white 1" tiles creating vertical and horizontal blocks. ^ ^ ^ Toilet is tucked away + shower is enclosed The pic of the shower is just an idea of the concept. The finishes are chosen when you decide on the floor plan and the feel you want to go for. The finishes can be any style: instead of elegance, you can achieve a rustic style with a flagstone floor, pebble floor in shower, and a concrete form for the shower enclosure. Consider keeping the finishes very simple. Note in the floor plan a sliver opening for light to pass through. The curved shower wall to be tiled as the one in the pic: black and white stripes in blocks of horizontal and vertical patterns. The first pics are this combination which is elegant with a twist. You haven't mentioned what style you like, so I imagine it as classic French Modern: natural oak, cremo marble and black and white "chicklet" tiles. You can, of course, go with a rectangle, instead of the round one drawn here. The separate room for the WC adds another layer of luxurious privacy. Here's a plan with a shower only. The area at the end of the bathroom forms the 'wet zone' with a seat to put clothes on (or for someone to have a chat with you in the bath) and plenty of space to dry off and not drag any water towards the vanity or the toilet area. ![]() In this bathroom layout, the bath has a luxurious surround and feels very protected – it's almost like a room in itself.
